Default What clay are you using?

As above, nearly picked up a Megs kit on the way home but thought I better get some opinions first.

Who's clay do you use? And what lube are you using?
Is it easy to work? I've read that some can be a bit of a pain to work with.

My car needs a good detail but I refuse to polish it until it's had a good clay!

Ben.

I use Bilt Hamber medium Autoclay and you only need tap water as lube making it very cost effective.

I haven't noticed big difference on the clays ive tried

But using enough lube is the key I think - just use tap water with a little soap added

Apparently - not sure how true it is, clay is just clay. There is only one hole in the ground in the world that detailing clay comes from, so no matter what brand you choose, it is all identical apart from some different dye!

Cheers guys.

Claying removes contaminants on your paintwork that a regular wash or even snow foam won't remove.
Should always clay before you polish so you don't rub the contaminants into the paint.

It's pretty much a bar of clay mate, not a lot else too it! Just rub it around your paint with the help of a lubricant.

Clay bars are not made from the clay you get out of the ground

Megs autogylm or bilt and hamber and all good and can be used with just water, there are some on ebay that are cheap and they are crap, they break up a lot quicker and don't fold very well imo

i've been using the meguires one but has come to an end now.
i'm trying a g3 one now, see how that goes, seems a bit stiffer so may pull a bit better.
as for lube, i got megs quick detailer, but waste don claying really. just a bit of chemical boys soap/gel and water in a spray bottle works well.
i got the g3 clay bar in a kit with an applicator, don't bother, it's bloody useless and will scratch the paint, happily that worked out as a freebie.

Dig a piece of clay out of the ground, pick out any large stones etc then wipe over your paintwork for a lovely swirl free finish
