The engine physically fits into the engine bay. Has been done before, but I'm not sure about the engine mounts. Maybe they need some work. But you'll have to keep your 4speed.

its a big pain in the ring for very little gain, the mk2 was a couple of inches longer on the front to accomodate the cvh, it can be done but everything is very tight up front meaning you are gong to have to mess around getting a smaller alternator, modifying the exhaust etc, engine mount will need changing, fiesta centre did a kit but it needs welding to the shell and it is a bit agricultural to say the least, all for an engine that is arguably a worse design from a performance point of view than a x-flow, if you are gong to that effort i would seriously fit a zetec as they are cheap, plentiful, reliable and very tunable as they are a progression from the BDA series engines, if you are determined to stay old school, try to source a 1600 x-flow (make sure its a FWD version) as it will be far easier to fit only requiring some engine lowering blocks

if your looking to 'xr2' it, you should know the mk1 fiesta xr2 didnt have a cvh engine.

it can be fitted though, its not that bad a job to do in fairness, but as said, a zetec engine is far better, but that comes with its own problems when being fitted into a mk1

If using the original 4 speed gearbox all it needs is a custom D/S engine mount and a bit of extra wiring. Its not that difficult tbh, you need to make sure you have the fuel return pipe and tank too. Get yourself over to FiestaMK1.co.uk theres all the info you'll need there
