Default Cosworth wont start help needed

Hi Guys, any davice would be a big help.

the car is currently stage 3, has 803, map and chip, along with bigger acuator and intercooler, new coil, spark plugs, ht leads, cap and rotor.

ok the car has a spark has fuel to much and the timing is all correct. ive done compression test and its got good compression across all four. now the problem is its putting far to much fuel in the cylinder to the point ive had to change oil due to full of fuel.

if i unplug injectors and turn the car over to clear out any existing fuel thats fine, but when i plug injectors bk in it will start for 5 second ish then cut out and not run again.

Any help would be great, as im abouts to pull my hair out

Also the bottom end has recently been rebuilt, by someone else i have bought the car as a non runner.

Thanks Steve

Check the coolant temperature sensor and its wiring - unplug the ECU connector and put a multimeter between termnals 11 and 29. Resistance measurement should be between 800 to 5000 ohms (depending on temp - probably around 2000 with a cold engine at this time of year). If no continuity, check the wiring &/or connector.

Also, check the map sensor pipe.

no - that sender is for the temp gauge

the sensor for the ECU is towards the rear on the inlet side

Re fuel; check the fuel regulator. If it has deteriorated it will dump large amounts of fuel into the inlet manifold.

Did you change the phase sensor; if so check that you have wiring plug inside the distributor correctly connected. If it is reversed the car won't start. (Unhappy experience talking here)

Check the phase sensor is 100% aligned as even one toth of the jackshaft out will cause it to overfuel massively, if it doesn't read the phase signal soon enough at start up, it won't inject sequentially, but runs batched I think, way to much anyway.
As it's new though would be agood idea to check fuel pressure, pump voltage under load, or better still just rewire the pump and fans if you want it to last.

Thanks for all the responses guys, will check all of the above tomorrow.

Was just concerned as it put alot of juice into the oil. like i say compression test is good.

As of the injectors will be changing eventually as i dont want the car car stage three.

i also posted in the general discussion and people are comingback with knackered temp sensor and map sensor could cacuse the same fault. but im leaning towards fuel reg.
Thanks again

Unless you know 100% the chip is correct for the spec, ie turbo, map, injectors etc etc etc, then it is going to be a long while in fixing, I would suggest you open ecu, if for example it is a msd chip, just ring msd as very helpfully they keep records of all the chips with the details(specs) it is for, just tell them the number from the chip.
