Mk1 focus diesel problems
My mums focus is paying up. Its a tdci 170k (2owners) She hardly uses the car litrally 30 miles a week if that. Its just started cutting out or not starting. The only way it would go is with a jump and easy start. It cut out sat so she left if, I went yesterday put leads on it and it went forst time and drove back fine.
Ive been to see my mate and he plugged it in and said no faults are showing. He suggested it clogging up from under use and not being opened up. He said it needs a new sensor in the exhaust.
ANy ideas?

That was my first thought but when it was running bad no codes showed up. My mate had the same problems with his, sold it for £100 now the lad who has it uses it daily and its been fine since.

Anyone have any ideas? Its been stood 5 weeks went to it this morning and went with a jump start.
I was going to get rid of it but its really clean car and is brilliant to drive so I want to keep it really but don't want to spend much on it.
Any ideas on what I can try?

Battery looks new. Had alternator last year. 14.5v when running. Had it ticking over today and after 5 minutes it cut out. Fired up straight away does hesitate for abit though, then it kept cutting out after 30 seconds so I left it.
Been offered £200 for it so I may get rid. Shame as its the ghia, lovely to drive and pulls like a train in every gear!
