I've got some very light swirls marks in my paint that is only really visable under bright light. The colour of the paint is very similar to moonstone blue just a little bit more silver and a little bit lighter.
So my question is, is it possible to remove these swirls from the paint by hand? I can borrow a good rotory polisher but i'm pretty scared to use one as the car has recently been painted and the finish is very good, so i dont wont to risk getting it wrong as i'm very new to detailing. What sort of products would remove these and how should i be using them?

there wont be any products out there, it will need a mechine polish.. how long ago was it repainted? if not long ago then there shouldnt be swirl marks. did they not flaten the paintwork then give it a mechine polish.

Thank you for that. Well i'm not exactly sure when it was painted i think it was maybe a year ago so not recently as such. I bought the car and it had already been painted but forgot to ask him when it was done.
It has been painted properly but i think the swirls are due to the previous owner not washing it correctly.

I found Meguirs ultimate compound to do the trick for me, mine had light swirls from a sponge and these came out no worries. I only use a wash mitt now and have had no swirls since.
so yeah a mitt is always the best one on the market.
Whilst a machine polishing session is always going to be the best and most effective solution to your problem, if they are only very light as you describe then it's not impossible to remove this level of defects by hand.
Menzerna 203S is highly effective by hand in addition to being a great machine polish.
Head over to Detailing World and do a search on hand polishing - you'd be surprised at what's achievable with the right products and techniques, although it is very time consuming and labour intensive work by hand.

Depending on how hard the paint was baked, you may be able to make decent progress with a good quality hand suitable polish like Menzerna 203S. Here is a run through of the method recommended for standard Ford paint, although bear in mind your finish may be somewhat harder (see Section 3.7 of the FAQ too, just in case)...

If you are not experienced with the rotary polisher, I would not recommend tackling the job yourself with it. Either find someone willing to lend you a dual action polisher (random orbital action is far safer and requires less skill) or call in a professional detailer, as recommended above.
