rite, im off to play on my ps3
The dreaded 3 red lights of doom
Usually means an overheating problem, had my last one do it and had to be sent back for repair, well it wasn't actually repaired as they sent me back a different console !! Not worried as was lucky to get mine fixed at all as had bought it off Ebay and was around 18 months old !!!!
If it has done it once it will only get worse and seems to do it more if you are online with it.

i seen somewhere that you can force it to reset itself by causing it to overheat and the thermal cut off will cut in , then all you have to do is let it cool down and it will work again (until next time)
btw - to get it to overheat , switch it on so you light is on and wrap it up in a few blankets and leave for a hour or so then unwrap and let it cool down
don't know how true this is but it maybe worth a try

Right then.......... word is i can get it fixed
BUT
As it has been chipped i cannot go online with it anyway......
SO
Would i be right in thinking that if i just bought the core pack for Ł189 i can put my hard-drive onto it with no problem at all and use the saved games that are on there with the new console.
That also means i can get mine fixed.....get the cheap copied games to see what i like then buy the genuine ones for the other X-Box and play online

yes tiff, you can use your hd on a core console, i bought a core system the day they came out, had to have 5 replacements due to the red lights, and all worked fine with my hd

That'll teach you for giving it the "big RS4 with 1000bhp un" and then running me off the road as I simply drove round the outside of you!
3 red lights of I cant drive more like
Apparently, if you wrap it up in a couple of towels, leave it on for 10-15 mins, then let it cool down again it will work.
Google for xbox 360 towel
Sounds unbelieveable but it apparently works

i like your thinking
by law the shop can give you the contact details and let you deal with it, the guarantee is with Microsoft, not with the shop. I had this with mobile phones when I used to work in retail, it became that much of a pain in the ass I did the above
Tiff I think its to do with the solder coming away on something inside as its got too hot. Microsoft are fixing them for up to 3 years now though

Your contract is with the shop you bought it from. There is no such thing as a shop 12 month guarantee with things such as electrical goods. You are covered for up to six years depending on the value, ie you would expect a new Sony tv to last longer than a Grundig for example.
For up to the first 6 months its the shops responsiblilty to prove its broken, after that its up to you if they ask you. A simple report from an electrical store saying its fucked will do
The shop can either repair (in a reasonable length of time) or replace/refund you.
Don't let the shop fob you off to microsoft, by law its the shops responsibilty to deal with the problem.
