Which one do you do first. Which one works best for make muscles bigger. I normaly do my cardio first to get warmed up then i do my weights.

I read on a body building forum that doing weights and an proper cardio workout in the same session is pointless as your body repairs differently or something if you do cardio and weights?

i don't know a great deal about all this stuff though, which is why i ask lots of questions and look on lots of sites

Personally i tend to only do cardio if i'm having an off day and find it hard to get motivated, but normally straight onto weights after. Probably the wrong way to see it but i see it as wasted cals as i want to try and bulk up and find it hard enough as it is to get enough of calories throughout the day, still try to get a good balance though.

Although I've heard that a 20 minute cardio session in the morning can be a good way to boost your appetite through out the day when bulking too.

Guess it depends on your goals too i suppose.

That's correct. Keep your cardio and weights seperate. 5 - 10 minutes light cardio to warm up is fine, and then some light tricep extensions, light pressing and what not and then give it all you have.

So i should do weights first then. Ive started to do 30 mins on the tread mill now. Im walking for 2 mins the run for 2 mins n so on. It gets the heart racing. I was speaking to a lad in the gym that i used to go to school with the other week. He looked massive to me. He said he only went to the gym 3 times a week.

Just need to make up your mind about what your goal is. If building muscle is your goal then you need to look at it in two steps, bulking and cutting. When your bulking you should look to do little to no cardio. In the cutting phase you simply up the cardio. I body build myself. Now it's winter I up the calorie intake dramaticaly (3 - 4000 a day) and do as little cardio as possible. A warm up is compulsory. I do between 5 and 10 minutes on a row machine to get a good sweat on. Your best bet is to look on a good site and decide what works best for you. The best site I've found is bodybuilding.com. A lot of the info you will find contradicts itself, you've just gotta work whats best for you. The best advice for body building I would say is to get your diet dialled in. You can't grow big muscles without big food. Check that site out mate and spend a coupl of hours researchin.

Well I would say cardio first then pal with a few all body weights sessions to make sure you don't loose too much muscle. Fat stripping supplements are a good idea too. Diet is key really.

Weights first. Don't burn all your energy on doing cardio first.

I thought he meant which to do first as a whole. If he means in the same day then don't do them in the same day unless the cardio is really light. Fat burning should be a light session anyhow best done first thing in the morning un fueled.

If im on my 10am to 6pm shift i go to the gym for 7am before i go to work. Ive always done cardio first before my weights. On my 6am till 2pm shift i go straight to the gym after work.

I have been doing about 40 mins cardio then do my weights all on the same day on the same session. I wanna get rid of my belly and i do 30 mins on the treadmill 2mins walkin then 2 mins running. I do this in the space of half an hour.

I was working with a bloke who used to compete and he advised me to do 2 days on 1 off with the weights and if i felt like it do 40 mins of cardio on me days off.

In all honnesty i dont really bother as i want to be bigger and the kite is going down and the muscle mass is going up just doing the weights. If i start putting fat on then i'll do some cardio.

The problem with getting advice off people is that everyone is different and reacts differently and the other major factor is people have different goals o what works for 1 might be totally wrong for another.

40 sorry yes, he also said he liked to do 1 min full belt then 30 seconds walking, rotate that 8-10 times and aparently its a good cardio workout if your trying to build some muscle.

I aint no expert but then again who do you listen to cause the internet is full of experts who have listened to other internet experts

dont bother, most trainers at gyms are retards who couldnt do anything else with their PE GCSE.

Are there any guys at your gym who look how you want to? Ask them about their goals, methods etc.

Also just use as much information as possible from all sources to find a method that works for you, not everyone is the same. Some people find cheat meals help break plateaus, some dont. Some people can get massive gains week in week out some cant.

I worked my week of exercise out but it took me 6 months of trying different peoples routines and finding my own for good results. I'm now on a 50 minute muscle building session maximum and finish off with a 20 minute fat burning high heartrate bike based interval exercise 3x a week, and once again I'm starting to shed fat and get my muscles back in shape.
You can do both but ideally I would just build muscle but my gym partner and I both need to lose the fat
