Nothing to do with sit ups.... all down to diet. 100%.

You cant spot reduce fat mate (some people say you can but it involves controlling insulin levels etc... not something everyone can manage well enough to do properly)

Bodyfat is burned up by excersise, but will come off the body where is wants (legs, back, arms, belly etc...) no specific order or way, it depends on the individual.

To lose fat, you need to eat below maintainence calories and do plenty cardio, in a nutshell.

Doing situps will burn calories though, so no harm in doing them!

A quote I always remember is 'Abs are built in the kitchen, not the gym'

Nice, now I just need to remember to do that. Big problem for me, like my potatoes and bread but the only part I can't get rid of

Best way is to cut out the carbs (Beers my killer) not too much or u'll feel drained also I found running and circuit training or if that isn’t ur thing try doing less weight more reps say from 10 reps to 15-20 reps each set.

sit-ups are good for toning the muscles but don't burn a huge amount of fat- you need to eat less carbs and do more cardio exercise, its hard just to loose it from one place as already said though.

I shall start on Monday, on holiday all week next week so I can stop from having a cheeky roll or two in the van at work! Bread and beer are my downfall

I've lost two stone and working on my third by cycling my ass off and doing crunches while I ride. I try to ride about 30 kms every second day (weather permitting) at about 30kph for one hour. burns between 1100 and 1200 calories. I ride a fixed gear track bike on flat road with cycling lanes. I put my head down and hit it hard.

I limit my calories to +1700 per day. That means it I burn 1000 calories cycling I eat 2700 calories that day.

"Lose It" is a little iPhone app I use to track my caloric intake. Works a charm. Flat stomachs come from keeping the muscles happy and the body fat down. Not rocket science.

The one thing i always say to folk regarding fitness is NEVER start counting callories.

Running will take weight off your stomach, doing cardiovascular related fitness is was you need to do. low reps, longer duration, less breaks inbetween sets.

You need to work for a min of 20mins to get into your 'training zone' or youl be working backwards with no effect.

Coupled with static excercises and raised sit-ups you will tone the area around your stomach helping greatly.

I can't find that app, I need something like that then I can keep track of things.

Just thought I'd check this thread to see when it was I asked

I've lost half a stone from basicly everywhere, still not 100% motivated but have managed to attend Gym for CV 3 days a week and back into wieghts now more than CV which is what I didn't want but seem to have the wieghts bug again.

Diet changed slightly but more protiens less fat.

Gained muscle mass on top half of body, arms, chest, shoulders etc.

Mrs aint to chuffed as she don't want me to get muscles again as she aint to keen on it but have promised not to go as mental as I did 5 years ago.

will get a flat stomoach though for next year cause not going to give up the CV.
