Rest Intervals
Depends on what your doing or should i say what you want to achieve.
Imo light weight + high reps should have relativly little recovery,say 30-60 secs.
Heavy weight + high reps should also have short recovery but longer than the above,say 1-2 mins.
A "quality" session imo should consist of max weight + low reps but plenty of recovery,anyhting upto 5 mins and increased weight on each set.
TBH i dont theres there any rule to recovery time,more so go on how you feel so as not to injure or rep fail when you not supposed to.

You mean the people who treat it like ayouth club.. Come in, lift a weight, chat for hours and go home..
remember at my old gym, kid would use the smiths machine and load up the weights alot heavier than he could lift... Then had a spotter on each end.
Thing is I wouldn't call them spotters as they lifted more of the weight everytime than the person did!

Yeah, exactly that, i use the gym alone so dont really speak to anyone, and sometimes i can be stood for ten mins waiting for a bench bloody fuming whilst they chat about some tramp at work with a short skirt, and other menial bollox. Its no wonder these people are there everyday but look the same, if not worse, than they looked when i started 9months ago.

What time of day do you lads go to the gym? After work(9 till 5) you tend to come across more of the time wasters and posers. Before work,lunch times and fast n furious late sessions before the gym closes is what i'd prefere, but it all comes down to when you can find time to go i guess. As with all things(hobbie wise) you dont really want it to take over your life either so if after work is best for you i guess youve just gotta put up with the waiting around. No worries though as big bro will be done soon so hopefully they'll have nowt to talk about

I am down the gym at about 5:30 4 days a week now.. IS the time I get home form working in London.

I have approx 3 mimn rests as I workout with a mate so hopefully should be fine

I go to the gym on my own so i can really focus on what i'm doing. My gym is manily used by oaps so getting on the waights isnt really a problem as they use the cardio machines more. Am doing high reps (12) so have been resting for 60secs or so and seems to be doing the trick.

there for strength training for football mate, normally play out on the wing but have been asked by the manager to play in the middle this seassion so need to be able to compete with lads who are alot bigger than me

To be honest in my opinion I would not rest for much longer than 3 minutes as then I think you will be resting more than is needed and will see more slender results, as you will be training at a lower intensity, when it is not required. However, intrestingly I can find nothing on the differeing results observed through different rest periods between sets in resistance training. Therefore I cannot back up my opinion with any evidence so may very well be wrong. Hope that helps
