What is best to use to clean an engine bay?

Depends how far you want to go. You can use the autoglym engine bay cleaner first and clean it off with water.

If you want the concours look its bits off, clean, repaint and then replace.

i give my self all day to do the engine,i give it a steam clean then i polish all the visible white paint eg top of arches around suspension turrets,battery tray etc etc,i then normally buff up my samcos(baby wipes ) to get the water marks off then i use autosol on all my crome&stainless . if you give it a good going over the 1st time then all youll have to do is keep on top of it once a week(espesially if your driving in this weather!)

the best way is by hand just keep working away at it

As above but if this is the gfirst time you've ever cleaned the bay and it's filthy, Gunk will clean everything off. Be careful is it's petroleum based so you won't be able to just polish straight over the top. That won't work........

i use zyclon oven cleaner... its so powerfull degreaser that some parts of the engine started to rust after a month or so... lick of paint is in order after a good cleaning...
