The only time i would expect someone to charge that is when they dont know what they are doing. Like the body shop that did the insurance work on one of my cars, dispite being told not to machine polish, they did the exact opposite and now the car is covered in marring/ buffer trails and pig tails
All work that i have to now waste my time to put right

how long is a piece of string? you get what you pay for in the machine polishing game, £80-100 IMO will not give the fella enough time to do a FULL machine polish correctly, he could do an enhancement detail on just the paintwork for that in a day tho! (enhancement detail i class as one pass with the rotary with a fairly harsh polish, but no follow up refinement with a milder polish)
for a FULL machine polish (i.e. defect free, or as close as ) i would expect to pay around £250 including a good wax!

Depends entirely on who you use and what level of correction you want really...
Expect to pay anything from £250 up and over a grand - might be worth checking if they have insurance too as many dont

One mans machine polish will vary greatly from the next. Its nigh on impossible to quote a flat fee without seeing the car and inspecting whats actually required.
You could be looking at a couple of days work if it needs plenty of work, conversly you could find someone "in the trade" who'll "mopp" it for £50!!!
I used to refuse to give quotes over the phone when i had my own valeting business because you could trip yourself up very easily (financially i mean).
As a rough guide, if the car needs claying, following by a good correction with the rotary, then protecting with sealants/waxes, you could be looking at £200 + very easily.

The new 3M pads and polishes in their paint rectification system are a pretty good place to start, as is the new Menzerna range of pads and polishes from Germany. We use both systems regularly in conjunction with Makita 9227CB rotary polishers in our studio, varying the pad/polish combination depending on the paint type being polished. If you are keen to start experimenting with new products to take your future results further, then I would suggest 3M is the way to go. More details on this link (scroll down to see the 3M polishes and pads)...
