Windows 7
Not quite as it's made up to be is it?
Having a few problems with critical errors, warnings and the likes in "Event Viewer"
Am trying to sort them but it seems Microsoft updates is making things worse?!
Was going to upgrade to win 8 for the measly sum of £25/£29 or what ever it is, but if they cant get win 7 working after all these years what hope do we have for win 8?

Lol so you are getting errors, so you blame the Operating System, it's most likely down to something else, what are the errors?
Windows 7 is not bad, well it had to be to replace Vista which was terrible.
Windows 8 is too new at the moment, therefore I won't be installing it yet (despite having a free license to do so!) I am going to wait until bugs have been patched.

I also doubt that errors are coming from Windows 7 - Much more likely to be something you've installed. If recent then consider using System Restore to go back in time.
Have upgraded 2 of my PCs to Win 8 on the special offer - Had problems applying updates to one but have sorted it I am now most impressed.
Post up your error messages and especially any error codes and let's see if the collective minds can get you back on track. Don't upgrade to 8 whilst 7 is in a mess as you will only copy your problems forward.

No, doesn't work.
There's no way of entering the new key into the Enterprise edition and what's more that link doesn't tell you how to do it.
The method used for Pro isn't available in Enterprise. And that is well-publicised information as I found very quickly when looking.
Well, to be precise there's no "legal" and/or "normal" way to do this at all. As I found by reading up on the chain of links which soon ran into a "we won't tell you how to do this because it's pirated" brick wall.
It can only be done (and I didn't) by initially using pirated volume licensing keys to activate a copy of Windows Pro (not Enterprise) illegally.
So you have to be seriously into breaking MS software, it's not a "loophole" available to the casual user as the article implies.
Anyway, it was a useful exercise as my totally legal install of W8 Enterprise 90-day trial has proved the target hardware is fine for a 64-bit install of W8 Pro - which I will buy for £24.99 during the offer period.

right, after taking a harder look at the issues i was getting in event viewer, it does infact seem like other software, partly, for the errors.
After most of friday night and today looking on the interweb for answers ive managed to get it down to 1 from about 11,ive deleted, updated and absolutely done my utmost to eliminate these issues.
The 1 i have left is:

In that error it clearly states "Service Control Manager" as the "Event Source", therefore I suspect there is a service that can not start etc.
Restart the PC and see if an occurance of this is logged at the time of the boot up, if so then that confirms this, you just have to find which service it is.
Martin
You need to turn that off to see what's going on.
