Problem with MY PICTURES folder

Right, so for some reason, the default MY PICTURES folder has decided to change itself to a "music folder"
It still shows my images in there, but you know the bit down the left side of the folder that has the tasks and what-not, well it thinks it is a music folder
And as such only has music related tasks...
Now this isn't a huge prob, but the one thing I miss from there is the plug in I installed some time ago which allowed me to use the Microsoft publish tool, which allowed me to publish directly to Photobucket in stead of having to upload from within Photobuckets web page
THing is, when you right click the my pictures folder, there isn't the option to "customize" to allow you to change the folder settings
What I want to know is if I move all my pics to a new folder with the same name, and delete the my pictures folder, will Windows adopt the new folder as it's default : ie, still show it as MY PICTURES in the "SAVE AS" boxes and when you click the MY PICTURES icon in the start menu;

Or if that won't work, is there anyway to change the folder settings as I don't know how else to do it without the option being in the right click menu

Okay, so I was able to move all the pics to a new folder, then delete the original MY PICTURES. But, even tho when I set the new folder customized settings (picture folder) it was fine, but when I changed the folder name to MY PICTURES to allow the system point-to's, it reverted back to being a music folder
WTF

WTF
did you rename the folder MY PICTURES all upper case
it should read sumthin like this when you have the folder visible in the address bar
C:\Documents and Settings\Matt Cowan\My Documents\My Pictures
because if its identical to the above,i put it down to a textbook windows havin a brainfart mode as per usual

DOn't matter if I remane it in all uppercase or all lower case, or combinations - still goes to a "Music folder" soon as the words "my pictures" are used in the folder title....
And whilst it might be a typical windows fuck up, that don't help me sort out how to change it back
Same goes for My Documents aswell - is set as a music folder but fuck all I can do to change it back
I don't really wanna have to re-install all over again for such a stupid thing!!!

create a new folder or drag the self created "My Pictures" in my documents or desktop first
customise it for pictures then change its icon then drag and drop it in my documents
then all picture tasks should be visible again
i've dragged the default " my pictures " out of my documents into another folder on my desktop and the startbar will always link to the folder to where its been moved to.. automatically....... but i havent deleted the folder
so the answer to your question about windows having a default my pictures, the answer is yes unless we find a way to associate the new folder as a default

Got you you fucking bastid

codey47 - I tried that already but for some reason as soon as I renamed the new folder to "My Pictures" it took on the original folders settings, as in turned to a music folder...
So I just spent the last 5 mins fucking around in there swapping to one folder and then to another and renaming each folder to odd names (like "uuuu" or "test pics" etc....) But everytime I renamed the new folder to My Pictures, it took on the original folders settings - AGAIN
So I ent to tools, and clicked Folder Options and turned off the "remember each folders settings" and then did the renaming game again. Renamed the original My Pictures to a random name, and created new folder, called it something else random, then put all my pics in it, changed the folder specifics to become a picture folder, deleted the "UUUU" folder and renamed the new one to My Pictures
Well fuck me it worked
Then I went back to folder options and turned remember settings back on again
So when I next reboot I will see if it has worked
Now all I have to do is do the same thing for My Documents folder
Dunno if I can be arsed to copy ALL the files in it tho

Don't know why no-one told me to go to TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > VIEW and just click RESET ALL FOLDERS
Cos that appears to have worked
Tho it does I have to now manually re-do ALL the folders on the PC (that I use) to get back to the view settings I had before I reset
Thats gonna take a fucking long time
My music folder alone has 267 folders in it
Not to mention the ones inside each folder

Why not change the setting in the registry as this is where they are kept, the following registry key is where the folder names are located, obviously yours will say whatever it is currently named, all you have to do is rename it :-
NOTE:- Messing with the registry can screw your PC up, make certain you back the registry up before modifying any entry and obtain the knowledge to know what your doing, I will not be responsible for anything you do to your pc or another persons,
If in doubt back it up.... if the information or image is that valuable it should not be on a computer !!
My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wind ows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Yeah, but I'd rather just recofigure each folder as I use it, as these are the configurable folders Bill - than have the three main non-configurable folders (My Documents, My Pictures and My Video's) all behaving abnormally
I am just gonna do them as I open them - eventually they will be back to normal I guess

I have killed Pc's before by messing with that
Plus it's sorted now - the three main core folders are reset to what they should be, just have to re-configure the other folders now to be back to norm
