Default S1 for sale - revised price 1/12/08

EDIT: I've today (1/12/08) found out that I've got rheumatoid arthritis and it ain't going to get any better - my S1 doesn't have PAS so now she has to go as it's likely I won't be able to turn the steering wheel easily now !! so she is therefore now officially 'up for sale' - £5750.

After having owned my S1 for 13 years, I’m think it could possibly now be time for a change and I have therefore decided to put up a for sale post to guage any potential genuine interest. I haven't made a firm decision to sell or not if I'm honest but if I know there are any genuine buyers out there then who knows what I may do !

Please click the links in my sig for pictures.

To say the car has been pampered is a gross understatement – in 13 years she’s only ever seen rain twice and has on average done 250 – 300 miles a year for many years. This can be confirmed by the MOT’s. I’ve also got plenty of paperwork for the car, although I refuse to pay ridiculous servicing costs so have had the car maintained privately. Please have a look at the pic’s (click the link at the bottom of my signature) – I can drone on here and write pages but the pic’s speak a thousand words and these will prove I haven’t run this car on a shoestring budget. Whatever the car needs – the car gets. There is no rust on this car – period. From October to April each year the car does not see daylight and is dry stored as I have never used her in winter – so she has not seen road salt in 13 years.

I cannot stress enough this is not an everyday car, and any new owner would be stupid if they intended to use the car in this way. If that’s what you want, I suggest you look elsewhere. However, if you want a clean S1 that you want to use at the weekend when the weather is nice and keep garaged – this is the car you want. Although the pic’s were taken last year the car looks exactly the same today – I’ve done nothing else to her other than change the oil and filter in March this year. There is also a Specialised Car Covers indoor cotton tailored cover which will be included in the sale. Any viewings will not take place at or anywhere near the registered address for obvious reasons, and it’s quite simple – if you show up with no money and no insurance certificate proving you are covered to drive you won’t get to even sit in the car, let alone get behind the steering wheel. Sorry if this sounds somewhat draconian or dictatorial but I’m going to weed out the timewasters at the first hurdle. I’m located near Heathrow – the car is not so please don’t expect to view the car an hour after we’ve spoken as it’s not possible.

I have a whole heap of spares – these are also available but are NOT for sale with the car at the advertised price. If you want them no problem but these will be an additional cost. If anyone wants the spares separately that’s also fine but I won’t be selling unless the car gets sold, and any potential buyer will have first dibs on any spares they may want. These comprise:

Rebuilt S1 gearbox with LSD - £250
Full S1 archkit (needs painting but isn’t battered which is why I kept and stored it – goes complete and will NOT split) - £200
CarCoon winter storage system (I reckon it’s big enough to get a Cosworth in) - £200
Powerflex S1 polyurethane bush kit (still in packets, never fitted) - £100
Front anti rollbar with brackets which aren’t broken - £40
Both doors with glass and window motors (need painting but solid) - £50 each
Two headlights -£20 the pair
Two starter motors - £10 each
Inlet manifold - £40
Brand new brake fluid reservoir (never fitted) - £10

If you are seriously interested please PM me and I’ll give you a number so we can have a chat. I won’t be talking via PM as that’s for timewasters, if you are seriously interested you’ll pick up the phone and I don’t answer withheld numbers – just so you know !

Stuart.

I can vouch for this car, its a stunning example and has been VERY VERY well looked after, I know how you feel about it Stuart and its gonna be emotional when it finally does go! In the years i have known you, ive only seen it on the road a handful of times, rarely see's rain and i know it has its yearly wheel change (winter and summer) its more like a member of the family than a car.

Goodluck to whoever decides to buy it, its a cracker of a car.

Car is not painted underneath at all - waste of time unless you're going to clean it every time the car goes out or trailer it everywhere ! Covered in flexible sealant and waxoyl so no pics. Ride height - 25mm drop.

Yep, inflates and filters the air inside. Keeps the car bone dry.

ok fair enough but depending on what kind of weather you drive it in all you need to do is give it a dust down once you have been out in. You can have the car detailed under underneath and use it now and again in the summer and still keep it clean. Any stone chips on front mate

cheers
