Default Does Protien Go Stale? Also...

I've been told by a mate in the gym, that instead of making one every time I need it, make a load up and leave them in the blender in the fridge. However, someone else disagreed and said it would go off.

Being able to pour it out clean would be easier, but I don't want to be wasting it. Also... Is it better taken with Milk or Water? I've read it is absorbed better with water. Your opinions?

Benni.

Think your body absorbes it quicker with water but tastes so much better with milk

Don't know the answer to your question Benni, but i find it's a doddle to make up a protein drink using one of those shakers, then just rinse it out and leave it on the draining board ready for the next time. Much quicker and easier than using a blender

DONT pre make them as they are only good for about 1 hour after mixing them and they go off so will be a waste of your cash

Water for morning shake and after training with milk before bedtime shake.Milk slows down the intake time of approx 30mins so with water its 1hr and into your muscles or 1.5hrs using milk before shuttling it to muscles

Thank's for the replies. I've made one and by mistake I must have had the hot tap on. To say it was foul would be an understatment. I've been burping clumps of chewey like powder up ever since.

I've never used a shaker as I am scared of it being powdery. This would put me off, I am a very fussy person, sadly.

Inside the shaker at the top is a piece of plastic mesh which breaks up the lumps and mixes the protein up nicely when you shake it in your hand.

I always had the same worry as you Benni, so i used to use a hand blender in a jug but the shaker is even better and a lot quicker and simpler to make and wash up.

Worth a try as they're only Ł1.79 from myprotein.co.uk

I never knew they were so complex! Thought it was just a jug with a fancy name, LOL! Yeah, I'll deffo buy one of those then. Cheers. Blending it is aukward, as no matter how much I steam, scrub, attack, it still stinks of stale milk from were it's got in the cracks. Will be very handy too as I am in college 9-4 4 days a week now, bar tuesday and I will take one with me.

Slightly deviating from the subject, but myprotein's supplements seem remarkabaly cheap. Has anyone had any experience of their products?

Yeah, i use their impact whey and creatine monohydrate, both very good imo. No bad reports at all, quick delivery, well packaged, good stuff.

Also got lifting straps and a couple of shakers from them, no complaints.

Oh, Benni, as for how to take your protein, I use milk when bulking and water when cutting. Also have water in my PWO shake as it apparently gets to the muscles quicker. Only going on what i've been led to believe of course.

dont know about it going off but my friend is a pro cyclist with cervelo test team (he is currently in 18th place in tour of spain 3 week race) had a discussion with one of their sponsors ZIPPFIT they recommend taking their shakes as taking with milk blocks the absortion of it and as the 1st half hour after training is vital for nutrients etc.

I'll have to give them a try when I finish my current supply.

Regarding the milk, thats where I'm going wrong. I'll try it with water even though it doesn't taste as nice.

shakers are wicked benni... means you can take it to the gym dry and mix it up immiediately after your workout which is the best time to have it.

Takes 2 minutes. run it under the tap, shake it all about then smash it in yer no lumps at all (depending on what shake you use i spose)

I live about 2 minutes from the gym, so that's not a problem. I've been taking some Tuna fish in a tub to college and eating it at dinner and I have a tin before I leave along with my usual cornflakes and toast. I also take some Turkey barm cakes to college too. Once I have a shaker though, I'll add one of those in.

Benni.
