Default Koni shocks. Wheel fitment

Hi All, my 17 inch Ford wheels (7.5j ET38) won't fit past the spring base of the shock. I have 205x40 tyres and there is no way it is even close!!
What is everyone else using?

I bought them off a fellow Cossie owner who said he had them on his car! I am beginning to wonder.
What is your wheel offset? On my 17s it is 38

To clarify - these are the shocks I have fitted: Koni Adjustables with numbers 8741 1109 9202 stamped on them.

My Ford wheels are:

These wheels should fit as far as I am aware! Something is up here! I placed a metal ruler vertical on the face of the brake disc and measured from the spring seat and it was 115mm. As a rough guide, with 7.5 rims the centre line is about 90mm - that only gives me +25mm MAX. ET to play with before the tyre catches the shock. That does not sound right to me!

I had 3mm spacers on my 4x4 sapphire cosworth but I replaced them with much lighter wheels due to big brake kit.

I ran 5mm spacers on the fronts when I had diamond cut rs7 spokes, to clear the caliper and the shock spring cup.

Have alook here when I first had the same issue with my splits.
