Default front shock to wheel clearance

Just put new wheels on my 2wd saph.

7.5j 17" MO 5 spokes. I have Koni shocks with Ahmed springs...

Anyway I wanted toyo r888 so I bought some 215/45 as i wanted 215 width tyres as other than that they make 205/40 or 235/40....

The tyre hits the shock and I couldnt put the wheel on. Tried a 10mm spacer but then I couldnt turn the steering as the tyre hit the bumper.

Chopped some of the bottom cup on the koni away and welded a plate across to keep the strength and now fits ok and it hasnt affected the spring travel but the tyre is 2mm max away from the shock!!!!!

Will this be ok?????

Just hit the spring cup up with a hammer about 5mm job done but use a rag so the paint don`t come off the shock.

Thats what i done to mine sound bad but is nothing can`t even notice it and won`t do any damadge.
