revs???
the problem is on my 92 escort one that even from that year still carb but that ok coz is just the family car anyhow the problem is that my rev tach stoped working I've check for fuses loose wires but every thing seems ok any ideas what can i do?
whip the clocks out and check for 12v across the rev counter (u will see all the three instruments are seperate and have pins connecting them to the circuit board)
my guess is the rev counter itself has packed in. Nothing unusual really......
the 3 connections on the rev counter are
12v
Earth
and a connection to the negative side of the coil (green wire)
if you need anymore help give me a shout

Im about to check pins I know that is not the clock because I swap mine with my brobers and it works on his car (same) another thing is I dont have a coil in it would this make any diference?
don't know what to do got the car and the clocks out only one big plug to the electrics but I haven't got the smallest clue of what cale does what please help
I dont look at the revs to offten but I hate when something isn't worng in my cars

ah right i thought that was what you were going to say.
Its got a DIS system then, the coil pack is a just two coils, each pack runs two plugs and it uses wasted spark.
Its the same as a normal coil, it shares the 12v feed, and has two negatives on it, so on the wiring plug there will be 1 black wire in the middle, and the outer two will be green. The rev counter will be connected to one of the two green wires, do a continuty check to see if u get a reading off either of them, remove the plug off the coil pack however, and unplug the clocks.
Have you checked to see if the rev counter itself has 12v's on its connection pins?
If your not sure which ones it will be, trace the lines on the PCB back to the wiring multi plug, identify which one goes to a green wire, and check for 12v across the other two pins

Now I know what you mean but I checked the clocks and I do have one 12v but two earth is that the way it should be? I have not check dis pack for what you just told me but it was because i didn't know it worked that way I'll have a look anyhow and I'll let you know the outcoming of that!
