just finished my zetec turbo and fitted dump valve but it wont dump

Q. will the car build positive boost when static or dose it have to be moving,also tryed with h\b on with engine under load but still nothing


DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I GET GOD TAX AND TAKE IT OUT ?????????

where have ya fitted the valve?

and is it the correct one ie without a metering unit?

 

THINK ITS 1 FOR FRST BUT COULD B ERST WOULD IT MATTER ???
ALSO MATE WHEN DOSE URE BOOST COME IN AS JUST TOOK CAR AROUND BLOCK IN FIRST GEAR AND DOSENT SEEM LIKE ITS BOOSTING COULDENT PUNCH THROTTLE BECAUSE CAR WAS TOO LOW ON 14" AND EXHAUST WAS HITTING LIKE MAD

 

mine builds from about 2k and them lets rip about 3-3.5k

to get it to dump from idle realy needs a fair few revs

is it a new one or 2nd hand in that are you sure it works?

 

YES M8 NEW BUT GOT IT OF MY M8 BUT HE THINKS ITS TO FIT ERST WILL IT STILL WORK

 

i dont know the exact differences, i think mine was a bailey DV26 for a fez but i never fitted it, prefer the chatter

dont want to insult but is it fitted correctly? ie connected to vacumm and plumbed into a big enough pipe

 

is your actuator ok? sounds like if your not gettin boost then it might not be connected or its gubbed

 

its a new act collins 31 but the rod is extended fully out so i dont get much boost and pop the engine just till after crimbo then i will get set up

dump valveis right after intercooler its mounted front mount to b different and vac hose is on

if i rev the car and look at the air filter side of turbo it dose spin when i rev the engine so if that spins surly the compressor wheel will if its conected by same shaft or is this wrong of thinking ,

 

shaft will always spin, its the wastegate opening and closing that you need to worry about, perhaps the rod is too far out and the wastegate cant close so wont produce any boost anyway

 

As above if you've extended the actuator rod right out the dump valve wont work coz theres no boost pressure
