Default Ferrodo DS2500 brake pads - your experience ?

Quick question for those who run / have run these pads before.

We have them on our 2wd cossie with drilled and slotted discs up front, std discs at the back.

Returning from TRAX, we drove for a while on the A34 without touching the brakes, got up a slip road to a roundabout, rolling up the hill and slowing naturally (without brakes), started to brake just before the roundabout and f*****************k, hardly any breaking at all, had to stomp really hard on the pedal to stop.

Later on, the brakes were fine on country lanes.

So, are the DS2500 inefficient if they haven't been warmed up a little before hand ? Not noticed that problem before, and I guess they were stone cold when we got to that roundabout.

Cheers Dave, I will keep an eye on it, but they otherwise work fine, could have got cold after a long drive with no brake application...

As long as the rest is heavy and stiff, I don't mind

Will just have to keep an eye on it when we next go for a long drive.

My DS2500 are great even in cold temperatures. Maybe when cold breaking feel is a little bit dull but apart from that I cannot complain in any way. And I abused them really hard as I left-foot-brake far to much sometimes.

I used 2500s in all my cossies and they are fine cold.
More likely is your calipers are sticking and you actually got the too HOT and experienced FADE. Check your wheels after driving around with virtually no braking, see if they feel HOT.

Thanks Stu, that sounds like a likely story on a 19 year old car
