Default Ferrodo DS2500 brake pads - your experience ?

Quick question for those who run / have run these pads before.

We have them on our 2wd cossie with drilled and slotted discs up front, std discs at the back.

Returning from TRAX, we drove for a while on the A34 without touching the brakes, got up a slip road to a roundabout, rolling up the hill and slowing naturally (without brakes), started to brake just before the roundabout and f*****************k, hardly any breaking at all, had to stomp really hard on the pedal to stop.

Later on, the brakes were fine on country lanes.

So, are the DS2500 inefficient if they haven't been warmed up a little before hand ? Not noticed that problem before, and I guess they were stone cold when we got to that roundabout.
