What turbo to buy? Looking for 5-600+ BHP!!!
Hi can someone help me decide what turbo to look at? I'm building a high power engine myself from scratch, and just trying to figure out in advance what sort of setup to be looking at. I've been looking about and seen T3/T4's, was advised on a T38, But have also seen a T66! Is that going to be too BIG? Or is there such a word!
Can anyone explain what the technical data means?
Such as A/R?
And .70?
Does 83 trim mean the angle of the blades?
Any advice will help!!!

Thanks Dave,
From that i guess if the exhaust housing is to big, the exhaust will not be strong enough to spin the turbo up quickly! Giving to much lag!
The lag obviously depends on how much pressure the turbo is generating at the same time. I've copied the spec from a tubo i'm looking at.
Can anyone tell me what problems or difficulties i might get with this?
COMPRESSOR: T66 COMPRESSOR WHEEL, IN A .70 A/R COMPRESSOR.
TURBINE: .68 A/R, P-TRIM

The moment the turbo kicks in .. you almost have to shift to the next gear.. or you have to build your engine with mechanical lifters which allows more revs (8500 rpm)..
It wont be a stoplight sprinter without ALS.. your competitors will be long gone before your turbo wakes up
An advantage might be that your gearbox will live a lot longer since there isnt a lot of power available at low revs
But different people.. different wishes..
I am selling a turbo which will bring you 600 hp easy (if all your other components are in place ofcourse!...)
look for pictures and technical stuff at this post
