Default Advise needed on changing fuel filter 2wd cossie

Don't think the fuel filter has been changed in years, got a new one but it didn't come with any copper washers & i been to a couple of factors but can't get the right size washers, hopefully i can use the old ones if i don't damage them. Whats the easiest way to change it, looks very rusted up , do you undo the 2 nuts securing the cradle 1st or undo the unions on either end of the filter 1st.

Thanks Simon.

Pretty sure its easier to undo the fuel pipes on the end before you loosen filter bracket

Deffo get some new washers m8,been there done that using the old ones
Get them from Ford if you can't get them anywhere else

Did you get a orig filter from Ford??????????
Local motor factors to me could'nt find a cosworth one listed by any of there suppliers

if you have a real problem getting washers, clean up the old ones then heat them with a blowtorch to glowing red and let them cool. That will anneal them (soften them) and allow you to use them again with a good chance of sealing. (assuming they are not completely squashed or mishapen to start with)
Trying to reuse old (work hardened) washers will almost certainly end in tears and leaks

Tried re using the old washers before i read this , it didn't work, heated them up,it didn't work, bought new washers today & fitted them, it is still leaking from around the washers.

Any ideas please as this is driving me mad plus the whole house stinks of petrol & the wife is not happy
