hey guys, help needed getting my s2 rs turbo going, i have replaced the fuel pump relay as it was melted, now the fuel pump runs as it should, the car cranks over but just wont fire, the only way it fires up is if u just hold open the flap on the metering unit slightly and it will start, rev up nicely and all that, soon as u let it shut, the car cuts out and wont start, i have replaced the metering unit with another one but still no joy, exactly the same, just dont understand it, any help would be massively appreciated. cheers

hi mate, remember havin same problem on my old rs. make sure there are no air leaks in the system and its all piped up as it should be. then you can try an adjust the screw by the flap. screw it in to push the flap down then try it mate

hi mate, i have checked over everywhere on the car, seems to be no air leaks anywhere that i can see, i will try and adjust that screw see if it makes any difference, is there anything else common to go wrong that could cause this?

when i bought it the car was in bits, head off of it, turbo was fucked, it was sat for about 18 months, i bought it, totally rebuilt the engine, new pistons bearings the lot, i put a fresh tank of fuel in it cos i didnt wana start it on old fuel, if u keep the flap pressed down a tiny bit then yeh it will run ok and rev up fine, as soon as it shuts it doesnt wana know, just cranks over forever and wont fire.

not yet, i've left it alone for the minute, just havent had time to play with it, hopefully have a look friday, i'm hoping just adjusting the metering head screw is gona sort it, its gotta be something simple, once it runs its fine, it revs up sweet, just doesnt wanna idle or start without that metering head flap open slightly.

yeh its got a brand new dizzy on it with rotor arm, if i turn it to tdc, the rotor arm is sat at number one, so i know thats all ok, its got a good spark, i have checked the cold start valve, plugged in ok, but even if i disconnect it, it doesnt make a difference, hopefully its just a case of setting up the metering head.
