Can these just give up?..with a feeling like the engines been cut off
Cars been run down to FITP all ok, however on the way home the engine stalled slightly but came back.(didn't help not dropping to second mind). got it home and it failed to start after being turned off.. checked fuel all ok and added another jerry can even pour some down the carb to make sure n still nowt
.
so switched to electrics and found ive no spark. Ive got 12v at coil but when cranked the sparks are blank, should there be 12v reading at the pin end of the amplifier lead? or does that take source direct from coil once connected to amplifier?. Also how do you get a bottom fitted amplifier off??
old girls done me proud today until now so wanna get her going again

You need to specify the car, is it a MK2 Fiesta perhaps as you mention carb?
If so and you have no spark I almost place money on it being the "Inducive Module" which is located on the distributor, yes these can fail without warning and will lead to a no spark situation but very easy and cheap to replace!

cars a 1400 28/32 dft carb cvh, with bosch dizzy.. looking at the module its covered in gunge so it may have a shortened life span.. also would that effect not having spark from the king lead on cranking or is that more of a coil issue?
With it all connected there's no spark, either at plug ends or from rotar arm to points so im guessing its module..

If it's the same setup which I should think it is (Breakerless ignition) that module switches the coil (Just a slight step up from the traditional points setup) so yes when this goes you will have no spark leaving the coil at all as it's not being switched.
