Ford Ka 53 reg, changing alternator
Firstly would like to say hi to all on here.
New here and this is my first post and need urgent help to exchange an alternator.
I was driving home from work and the battery light came on, the car went for a few miles and then started to shudder and finaly give up. I replaced the battery and the light went out, so thinking it was a battery issue and it was fixed.
The next day I was driving home and the same thing happened again so I am assuming the alternator is at fault, I have since learned that it is a nightmare to change and was wondering if someone would be kind enough to give me a step by step guide on what i need to remove and how to change the alternater.
I have searched the net and can only find very basic methods of changing it and ned more detailed help from a wise owl on here. Is there anything else I should check before taking my car apart that could cause the fault?
Many thanks in advance.

First thing with the Ka is to check the wiring that runs from the back of the alternator towards the front panel , these have a smart charge system controlled by the ECU , and it is sometimes these wires that break that causes lack of charge , you can even get a repair loom from Ford as it is such a bad issue that just solders in and replaces that part of the loom . Hope this helps .
Thanks Jonathon,
Had to replace the alternater and what job to do so. This has put me off Fords for life. Read someplace this guy boasted he could change one in 45 mins, utter rubbish.
If your the average joe bloggs and you need to change the alternator then plan for a full day and thats after working out what tools you will need and the best way to do it in order.
