I have fiesta turbo and the oil pressure isn't very good when it's on idle and engine is hot it drops to about 11 psi but when driving it's about 30 40 psi and when started from cold about 50 60 psi the oil pump is 18 month old but the car is hardly driven so only done 3000 miles since then. It has mobile 1 15/50 oil in it anyone got an idea why the pressure aint to great? Thanks

I would say 15w50 oil is way too thick for a CVH. I've always run them on 10w40 semi synthetic and change it regularly. 10w40 fully synthetic is even better, but a lot dearer. The oil pressure you quote doesn't sound horrendous, i'm not sure what mine is as i've no pressure gauge. Just looked in Haynes manual, they say minimum oil pressure at 750rpm engine hot is 14.5psi, and 40psi at 2000rpm when hot. Get the right oil in it first, I would mate.

Wouldn't use mobil myself, it's not that good a oil imo, there is NOTHING wrong with that oil pressure at all, at idle pressure is not that important as no load on engine, some early cvh's had a different oil pressure switch fitted(under warranty) due to flickering oil light under hot idle.

I have just come on here to start a new thread about this but you have the same thing i have just serviced mine putting 10/40 in and when cold its around the 50psi area but once warmit is about 8-10psi on tick over then about 28psi driving at about 30mph in 4th/5th gear
Can you adjust the oil pressure ? as just dont like the sound of it on tick over as it gets a little tappy

Hi mate,
I've ran my CVH's on 15/50 and not had any problems. It also depends what mileage the car has done. I did about 50k in mine running that oil without any problems at all. 10/40 in my opinion was too thin and the engine sounded terrible.

personaly when i ran 15/50 mine it ran crap when cold it was horribly noisey untill warmed up. the recomended oil for turbo cvh is 5/40 whic is what i use and mine is perfect from cold right up to when hot. hot idle is about 2bar or just under. 15/50 mobil 1 motor sport is more of a track day oil when the car is getting some serious abuse.
