Default Cheapest Zetec turbo ?

IV been asking and asking with no definitive answer yet, whats the cheapest most effective way to turbo a 2 litre zetec engine?

I have been told to buy a focus RS engine and use that, but im sure there must be cheaper options than having to spend ALOT on the engine/ecu/turbo etc from an RS.

Set of steel rods and forged pistons, std head with T3 Turbo.

Not very hard or alot of money.

no offence mate, but if you are on such a budget you cant affort to buy the focus rs engine, then you are going to struggle to turbo the existing zetec you have. and if you do manage, it will probably be abit of a bodge up with used parts and no doubt wont work very well.
if you want a ford 4 pot turbo, have you looked into buying a FRST or ERST? maybe even a standard sapphire.

Theres no offence taken, i just dont like to have the piss took out of me and told to buy a focus rs engine because everything else will be shit - everything else wont be shit if its done properly.. of course i want it done properly but i dont want to spend silly amounts if i dont have to.

it would work out cheaper to build your owne engine than buy a focus rs one, they tend to go for around 1200 for just the engine and you can buy a set of forged rods and pistions for 800 and get valve springs for 200 and spend some money on cams if you wanted to (say 400 for cams) and you have a engine thats stronger than a rs one and a better spec, or keep the standard cams(good for 300bhp) and have some head work done, you can use ofab managment on it and get a t3 on a escort manifold or get a focus rs one(more money but fit better and you can buy off the shelf bits for the exhaust to fit)

because you are starting for a non turboed car, with out any doubt the chepist way is frs engine, look for a someone breaking a frs i bet you would take full running gear off them for 2 to 3k as you'll need everything might even get brakes and box at that money

or there is the option of making own

2.0 zetec and 1.8 ztetec Ł100 each (need lost fo 1.8 parts)

presuming you get a suitable inlet between the 2? if not Ł50 to Ł70
roads pistons Ł750 from M-Tech
managment mega suqirt is prob chepist fuk nos Ł210 unbuilt
2nd hand on manifold t3 Ł100 to Ł400
adapotr plate for manifold Ł70 quid
gaskets and stuff Ł100
FRS cooler 650 airtec
exhaust system Ł300 to Ł500 quid

then you have to build it ans map it and sure i missed loads of shit out, and its not goin to be anywhere near as good ans FRS set up

might do in on 2k but it'll be basic

so the 1400 engine discribed above is cheaper that a frs one at 1200? without taking in to account a frs head gasket, head bolts, suitable inlet and exhuast manifolds?

whats in your focus at the mo?

like the one marky G has shown, i would get the RS engine. if you cant afford it, save up.
im sure people who have done these sort of projects before will agree that the original budget is never enough as they never take into account all the little things that seem to really add up lol. focus Rs engine box and turbo, just bolts in ready to go.

that is actually a very good price, obv being all straight fit i could get somebody to sort that out without much effort.
