Default GRRRR advice please

hi all
need a bit of advice please, before the mondy gets it!a few months ago i changed the aux belt and tensioner to rid the annoying rumble(for a used tensioner)but none the less things were better, not perfect but better.the usual clattering tho remained, worse still when the aircon was to the point of embarasing so just wouldnt use it.so i got me a new(yes new) crank pulley, but for a transit 350 pulley but same config of mounting holes and diameter the same.

the new one

after 4 hours of trying to get the stuborn bolts out, even with an impact wrench,i finally got the new one on and was big grinning with excitment thinking i was finally gonna have a nice quiet mondy, but nooooo still the same clattering and the belt and tensioner are flapping and vibrating all over the place now.
so my question is....what is this F*****ing clattering and why are the belt and tensioner now misbeaving like this

the car...2004 mondeo 2.0tdci 57k soon to be moddied with a jerry can and match
regards

could be the dual mass flywheel making the noise, not sure if it would vibrate the belt but it will vibrate the crank a lot so possible the belt could be affected as well.
try taking the belt off and starting the car see if the noise goes away and go from there

thanx for reply botters
i had considered the dreaded DMF but when its going it goes welland gear changes are smooth and all that.
and getting the the belt on and off is a complete nightmare never come across such a shit design before.
i did forget to mention tho that a tiniest spray of dubD 40 and all is well and smooth and the belt stops flappping (clattering remains)until iv done a mile or so.somthing very not right ere.

You'd be better off taking the belt off, and turning anything that rotates with it, you will find one thing with some roughness, and that's your baddy bit.

hi guys
right ive got an update on my clattering noise
ive been told my mechanic mate thats its excesive diesel knock probably caused by timing, now i know theres not timing timing like there is on a petrol model but there is timing right?im wondering now, wether it could be caused by a cam sensor or crank sensor breaking down,as these are dead cheap parts to buy.
my symptoms are
1.misfireing when doin a steady speed-sometimes it dont do it,sometimes very slight and on occasions quite bad.
2.starting up-would tick over at about 500 to less revs then after about 5-10 secs find its way and be fine.seems to have stopped now??or for now
3. the dreaded clattering diesel knock.

im aware of the injector probs, and also aware of the costs regarding them,so i would like to know if anyone has any ideas of the above.

regards
nigel
