Sounds worn?? The syncros wear - classic T5 trick. How long have you had it? The previous oil could have been a heavier grade gear oil that might have helped the gearbox along, hence when you put the ATF in the problem arose? Would prob be worth changing to gear oil anyway - 75W90??

Interesting?

Does it ease after a while when things have warmed up?

It eases after a couple of changes. It's only really the first couple of times, you can also feel each gear more now than before!!!!!

IF the gearbox was fine before and ONLY now after being sat up for a long period of time is difficult to select it WILL take a few miles for it to become fully lub'd up m8! and I ONLY use ATF fluid m8!

If the previous oil was in for a reasonable period of time, it would have thickened up over time. By putting in the new thinner oil, it could have identified the wearing of syncros that was previously disguished?

Sorry, know it doesn't give you a decent answer - just throwing ideas around.
