I don't have a escort manula but will all be in a haynes manual, might be quicker ?, I'll see if I can borrow one just in case.
I assume it is not working ?, you do know that the engine needs to be running on these as the live output on the charge warning light wire energises one side of the relay.

Hi,
Yes pretty sure on these they do, they do on a a lot of cars, due to the large amount of current used, not all like it though.

Yeah, nearly all Fords need to have the engine running otherwise the screen won't heat, and the light on the switch won't come on....

Does anyone know if an old shape Focus that doesn't have the heated front screen, actually has the wiring to the (non-existent) dashboard switch already there? My windscreen just started to split along the bottom for some reason and was thinking of upgrading....

Cheers

mk4 escort will work the heated screen with just the ignition on...had to change the relay on my orion when it wouldnt switch on...they have some sort of timer that will automatically switch the screen off after a set time..it may just be that the relay is tripping out or whatever the technical term for it is..that is assuming that the orion and escort work the same of course

lol was thinking it might just be why wires behind windscreen pillar or summit like a fuse or something, If your driver sides works maybe wi could cut screens in half and use each others good bits lol

on a sierra the screen is in "2 halfs" if u get me...check to make sure the wires under the scuttle panel are earthed and check if they are soldered to the screen as they are quite weak..if they are ok then the screen is donald ducked...if u need a screen contact me or ask big ern and i will do u a good deal..that is if u dont go through insurance....hope this isnt breakin forum rules by the way

yes mate...of the top of my head i think you have to tke it off to get a proper look..if its original screen the connectors are sealed with a heat shrink type stuff...careful not to damage the wires..pretty sure they are bullet connectors...if you need any help giz a shout cause i think your local to me..am i right in thinking you got your car painted at erns?
