Default Cosworth 4x4 Brembo Brake Conversion

Hi All,

I Need info on brake conversions, iv searched the whole internet for info on what Brembo 4 pot brakes can be added to the front brakes and what discs can be fitted. iv found that peugeot 406 can fit and 406 discs but then told they wont by others. Im not bothered about the wheels not fitting that can be sorted but just need to know what will fit.

Any Help would be great.

cheers
Si

the not bothered about wheels , will be the problem.

as if you take the wheels off, you can pretty much then fit wharever brakes you want. but come the time of finding wheels to fit , thats where you'll have issues.

Alright mate I mite be able to help ya with this one .
My 3door is 4x4 ,

For years I had 17" tsw hockenhiems on it, I wanted different brakes such as brembo a bit found the same problem as you. The space was limited .

I now have compomotive th2 and there is so much room behind the spokes it's unreal!
They are a low offset et25.
The car drives lovely and can't fault it .
Even tho I thought it would drive bad with a low offset .

I will be definately fitting big brakes soon I was gonna go for evo 8 brembos

Here are some photos of my wheels .......

So after measuring , from the face of the original 4x4 caliper I still 50mm of space ,

Basically get my wheels mate.

Best thing to do would be buy a set of APs designed for the car.

I called the guy who sells the conversion kits on ebay. He states they are only for 2wd and will not fit 4x4.when I called to ask why he was not very polite saying he though it was disturbing why I would even ask. Said to him I was just wondering what was the difference. Not very good customer service cos if I new why I wouldn't be asking. Strange bloke

If the 406 disc is the correct off set to allow a brembo caliper then why not just buy the discs and a pair of Evo brembos and make up some brackets mate.

also interested in this , so do the calipers fit the 4x4 hub with the brackets its just the offset of the brake disc wrong for the 4x4.
av seen evo brembos on a 4x4 but unsure on what brackets he used , the 1s for sale on ebay advertised as 2wd??

If you were to use them you need to make sure there is enough space between the disc and the back of the spokes on the wheels.
The likes of hi spec and ap are quiet slim calipers unlike most brembos which are wide and quiet bulky .

Hi there, my 2wd has the same conversion, did you find your wheels sat out the arch more?

Just my wheels are et33 so thought I wouldn't get that much poke, maybe the disks are thicker? Ie mounting face?
