mk3 and mk4 wiring

Default mk3 and mk4 wiring

can any 1 help i changing the wiring plug on my mk4 loom to mk3 for lights and wipers but mk4 has more wires and diffrent colour any 1 got a idea witch wire goes where and what color thanks danny

What for? The circuit for lights for instance is hugely different with mk4 using a lot more relays.

I've done this - and its not easy. The Mk3 used most directly switched stalk circuits whereas most of the Mk4 ones are relay switched. You also have problems with the indicators as the Mk4 fuse box has no provision for the flasher relay, and with the horn IIRC as the Mk3 uses a switch on the +ve side and the Mk4 a -ve.

Its not just a matter of matching up the colours. If I get time I'll write down exactly which Mk3 colours match to which Mk4 colours. I did get it all working in the end including the variable wiper delay and the auxilliary warning lights.

just put a mk4 loom in my series 1 pain in the arse found the clocks easyest to do though but would love to no how to get the different wiper speeds

plus seem to have trouble with gettin the hand brake light to work but i found the indecators wored okby joining the blk/violet and the blk/green together

any idea how the wiper and idny wires go mate, been told of other people you have to put a reley in for the indys
