Built in sat nav problem
I hope this is the correct forum to post this question.
I've recently bought a 2006 Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia with on board touch screen sat nav.
Great car and good sat nav apart from one small annoying problem.
I can't seem to find a way to stop a CD, from the head unit or the changer, playing without turning the unit off. This is no good if I'm using the satnav as it would turn this off as well. At the moment I'm just turning the volume down if I don't want music on. The problem with this is that the CD continues through the tracks. Is there a pause/stop control?
Can anyone help?

That is just a wild guess in the hope it might help you. Maybe someone will be able to give you a definite answer.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the same thing about the phone button. If I select the phone function, the phone screen appears but the music carries on playing until I press to make a call and then it's muted. Once I end the call, the music comes back on.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Work dragged me away for a couple of days. Thanks for the reply.
The CD and radio both mute when a call is made or received, but when the call is over, the music starts again. The CD button on the touchscreen shows a stop sign when the phone is in use.
I thought this would be the stop or pause button as well but, obviously not!
Maybe there is a fault but, before going back to the dealer, I just wondered if any others users had the touchscreen unit and whether they could say for definite whether there is a way of stopping music without turning the unit off, turning the volume down or ejecting all CDs.

Not sure if it was an optional extra but more of an oversight. I am changing to radio at the moment and then tuning to a silent waveband.
I just can't believe Ford didn't think of this. I can't seem to get the picture to show but, here's a link to the page that shows it:

Ah, now I know what you mean. I think you're right- there is no way of muting the audio without also killing the nav announcements. In a Bentley, it's a seperable function! I work with a guy who used to work for Denso (who did this unit it seems) doing Nav for Range Rover and XF, so i'll ask him when he gets back from holiday next wk.

That's very kind of you. Can I just confirm though, I actually want to be able to mute the music without having to just turn the volume down to zero, possibly affecting the sat nav. The other two options as I see it are, eject all CDs or turn the whole unit off and have no sat nav, phone or climate!
Anyway, if you could ask your colleague, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks again.

Yeh, i know exactly what you're trying to achieve! I have use of a 55 plate Focus that you can't mute the CD in either. Me and my colleague now design these things for Bentley, hence my comment about our current models. I'll see what he says because he's used various LRs and Jags which have a similar system...

Sorry for the delayed reply, and after all that, my mate doesn't know much about the Ford unit. He does reckon tho that if you turn the volume of the CD or radio down, the Nav announcements should be unaffected. I agree with him, since this is how all VW and Audis work too.
