MK6 Fiesta, starting issue

MK6 Fiesta, starting issue
Hi all, my MK6 Fiesta is hard to start sometimes, but sometimes it's not.
90% of times when you turn the key you need to add throttle for it to fire up whilst turning over. It will fire up eventually if you don't add throttle but it's easier to just add throttle.
But everyone now and again, it'll start straight back up after with no throttle, just like a normal car.
Also, when it's been running it'll always start straight back up with no throttle.
My only thought is something along the lines of fuel pressure/dirty fuel filter. It must be fuel related if I'm having to add throttle, I'd have thought?
It's getting quite annoying, I was wondering if anybody knew what it could be as there are a few petrol heads on here, thanks

There is no misfiring etc though? And why would me adding throttle mean it starts?
Also anothing thing I just remembered, every now and again it'll just spin the starter motor and I have to turn the key off and on again?
Oh, and it's done 88k miles, I drive alot lol

I'll give it a check mate, although had new plugs recently and made no difference
Any other ideas just fire away and I'll have a look.
I was going to change fuel filter as it must be pretty dirty by now

u can test it by pour water over the jets then open the bonnet and see if there is
water on the air box runing down to the plugs near the oil filer cap
try it mate

OK well there's no actual water, although there is evidence of there once being water in there. I didn't have the right tool to get the plugs out as my plug tool is for larger plugs so I'll have to buy a deep socket for that.
Took some pics to show you:
Also, looked at the air filter. I was surprised how dirty this was, I changed it 8000miles ago?
And what's this filter? It's all oily.

sealer beween the bonnet and jet i use sump sealer push the jet back in and clean
the excess off, change the plugs, that your bad starting because the rain water
leaks in overnight and when u go to start it the plugs are wet but there dry out with the heat, did u poor water over the bonnet and washer jet and see where it ended up mate

Can I ask of the mechanical reason of what the coilpack could be the fault? Be interesting to know.
I thought if the coilpack was at fault it would misfire or something? I know it's not expensive, but it's Ł37 that might not 100% solve the problem.
I have heard of the faults on the Fiesta coilpacks though.
Air filter was changed by my local garage guy. I usually do services myself but he did the whole service cheaper than I could get the parts to do it myself so made sense. Should I buy a new filter? I attempted cleaning it but it didn't really do anything.
yes mate that from the right hand washer jet pop the washer jet out and put some

But you saying about the bad starting due to water, it has trouble starting in all weathers. In fact sometimes in the rain it still starts first time, that's why I find it so confusing!
I'll give the pouring water over the jets a go, probably just re-seal them anyway to be safe.
Thanks for helpful replies, much more helpful than I've had previously on other forums.

No mate, leads and coilpack are original as far as I know!

my gf's fiesta is the same, sometimes wont start unless you press the accelerator. Seems pretty common, a fiesta i had as a courtesy car a couple of months back did exactly the same. Really wouldn't worry about it!
As said above, I wouldn't bother changing the coilpack unless its misfiring when its running.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one with the problem. You'd think if there are a few around with the same problem that there must be a solution though?
It's just annoying sitting there cranking the engine a couple of times, when my mate in his J plate 106 starts instantly

Hi I know this is a few years old but did you sort the issue if so how? I've just got a Mk6 fiesta 04 plate and I'm having the exact same issue the key turns over starts and just cuts out I have to press my accelerator for it to start and run it'll run fine all day come to it the next and I'll have the starting issue again. Any help or advice is appreciated

Alternatively - a problem with the wiring, but it is better to look at the service station. Ignition coils can also be the reason. oil and antifreeze have nothing to do with it. I take coils for myself here best coils for 5.3 vortec of very good quality from the guys. Also, a friend took a fuel filter from them. But I think the problem is most likely in the candles.
