a complete re wire of just the terminals to the pump

rewire from battery direct to pump with new cable (& earth)...dont for get to fuse it

ok will do, surely you have to run it through the ignition as it will be on all the time though

No the original wiring activates the relay which switches the new wiring.

you're only replacing the feed and earth; not the relay!

Make sure you keep it through the cut out bit safer that way.
I mounted my realy up at the back of the rear seat inside the boot, so if going to show etc just pop relay out of it's holder for a little extra free security.
