Hi Lads, i have to change the speedo of my Essi MK4 Convertible, but don`t know how to remove the steering wheel!
Could anyone give me advice how i can do that WITHOUT using a bloody hammer?

Cheers, Sascha

once you've undone the centre nut wiggle it off! ps you may have to have ignition key in the turned on position!

Take the horn push out that just pops out with a bit of levering with a screew driver and theres a 20 or 22mm bolt undo that makesure you have the steering lock off then just pull sometimes they can be hard to pull off tho

I think so, too!
But the problem is getting access to the centre nut. When the horn button is removed there are only that 2 cables...

prise the plastic out it sorta sits under the rubber of the steering wheel, the nut is under there, but remember to put the steering lock back on when you are trying to undo it as they are real tight , just helps a bit.

Get a flat ended screew driver and put it in between the rubber of the steering wheel and the horn push base (where ive marked it in the picture)

and just prize it out then you will see the nut under that

DONT pull it as u may fook the bushes, give it a sharp blow with your palm on one side toward the dash NOT away from it then that should free it then it will just come off mate. i pulled my steerin wheel to hard once and broke a small white plastic bush witch i then had to go to ford to get a replacement coz i had play in the column after it had broke.

MISSION COMPLETED!

Thanks for that, Lads!
I was pulling like an idiot for almost an hour, and then suddenly it went off like it was never jammed...

I don`t think so, there`s far too less space to act useful...
Anyway, it`s already removed now and i`m considering about a sports steering wheel..
