hi all , had my 4x4 saff set up 2 yrs ago by paul hills at engine advantages, had no problems touch wood. but at mot time my co is allways at 7% he did away with my lambda and used pectal for a more refined set up he said. he told me to wind down the ecu screw wich did bring it down and therefore passed , told to wind it back up again as cossies like to run rich. i asked if the screw would alter the fueling he said no the screw is just for emmissions and has nothing to do with the map, is this a common thing to do at mot time with tuned cossies without closed loop , its a stage 3 by the way. dont know what software he uses neither bayjoo, msd, ? thanks all.

I had to turn mine down recently. It failed as it was running 5.5% CO and Paul said just turn it down about one and half turns which I did and it sailed through. As soon as i'd got the certificate in my grubby little hands I turned it back up again whilst still at the garage and burnt off home.

If they are set up right they will sail through the mot test without any adjustment, even on a std ford/wm ecu, certainly on closed loop should be clean as a whistle at idle.
This is a bodge of the highest order, if running that much co normally you are losing power as well as wasting fuel cand causing excess wear.

the original turbo was in need of replacing worn shaft, so paul got me another T3 with 360 thrust bearing, when i picked the car up i noticed the new turbo didn,t have the lambda screwed into where they are usually plumbed in infact this turbo didn,t have the place for it. when i asked about it paul said it wasn,t working right anyway.what i don,t understand is at 7% co the car runs and drives spot on and the sparkplugs are a perfect colour not black as coal as you would expect from running to rich, the oil smells of oil not fuel so i don,t think borewash is a factor here. with an incorrect set up car surely you would be having problems... other than the co at mot its not missed a beat in 2 yrs! cossies sent from hell to try us!!
