Default ERST boosting problems

Hi folks,
got an erst with a few problems
Car is fitted with chipped ecu, -31 actuator, stainless exh and a K&N filter.
Car was only boosting to about 4 psi, av checked for leaks and hoses are ok.
Removed the feed for the actuator last nite and took it for a run.
Car managed to boost up to 16-17 psi before a lifted ma foot.
Anyone have an idea on what could be wrong.

thanks in advance
Roscoe

What would be best to do
Replace the amal valve or bypass the amal valve with a bleed valve?

Cheers

You're a brave man taking the actuator pipe off!

The actuator probably just isn't set right. Either that or the amal valve as suggested. You should hear the amal valve click a few times when you switch the ignition on if its working.

Most people say am stupid.
I have tried adjusting the actuator rod and it made no diff.
A think it must be the amal valve.
Any ideas for set up.
Amal valve or bypass?

Well it could of been a foolish move but at least now you know the turbo is ok.

I would probably try just putting a pipe straight from the compressor housing to the actuator (you need to block the return pipe off) and be careful how high it boosts as you really dont know until you take it down the road.

if it still does it you've probably got a weak actuator.

So that would be a pipe from the turbo to the actuator and do you put a valve on the pipe to set the actuator?

no, just run a straight pipe for now. It shouldnt boost too high in theory, BUT BEWARE if you are not sure what the actuator is set to.
