Default no ignition erst

ok i went out this morning to shop, went in shop,
came back out, got in car and turned key and had
no ignition lights, i thought the immobiliser was playing up
but just to make sure i ran a live feed to the ignition barrel and
it all lit up so i turned key and it started, when i removed wire it
cut out and lights went out again.
i cannot find the problem but know it is not the immobiliser as
all mine does is disable the circuit to the starter moter and can
easily be bypassed (crap lol).
is there an ignition relay or anything similar that might have gone?
i have checked all fuses under bonnet.
any help much appreciated.

i had same problem a few weeks back. Turned out to be the connector block about 4 inches down from the ignition barrel. 4 Wires go through it and mine had gone bad. Test it both sides, worked for me

ok thanks for the help so far, i have been out and tested the
feed from the multiplug and there is no power, so im assuming
the fault is somewhere else, i cannot seem to trace where the large
red wire goes to, does this go staright to the battery?
im on about the permanent live to the ignition switch, if i run a
live wire to either side of the multi plug or straight to the ignition
switch then it all works fine.also the plug has no signs of damage

the large red wire should eventually end up at your battery, usually has the big battery/alternator lead and a smaller red one on your batter. Test that wire and trace it back. Presume it goes through some fuse along the line! check fuse box?

You need to start at the battery first, and probe along the thick red wire leading away from it, it will likely go to a soldered joint and to the alternator as well, maybe the joint is crumbling ?
