Default Manually turning engine over

just changed my cambelt today, once it was al timed and tensioned up i turned the engine over slowley 3 times manually via the pully to check everything was good. it wasnt till after the 3 turns that i remembered i hadnt yet put oil in the engine yet! has this now damged my block?

when i had the head off off a few weeks back there was still a thin film of oil on the walls, has this been enough to protect?

cheers in advance.

When you put new oil in did you prime the system before starting?

once i put oil in i turned the engine over another few times by hand.
then disconected the fuel pump and turned the engine over via the key for a total of 20seconds.
then plugged the fuel pump lead bk in and started car.

was there something else i should have done?

As long as the oil pressure light went out in them 20 seconds you shouldn't have any problems. Just a bit worried about the tapping at start up.

Depends on how long the engine was sat without any oil in you will get a bit of tapping untill the oil has got into the tappets.

cool the head had been sat dry on a stool in my garage since i took it off in the summer only just got it all back in and started up last weekend.
annoying thing is that i had to switch it off after half a minute cuz i realised i had a pin hole leak in the metal water pipe that goes to the turbo. so didnt get a chance to hear if the tapping would settle

off with the manifold again to replace the leaking pipe

If you want to run the engine before fixing that just keep the reservoir cap off and it shouldn't leak too bad as it wont pressurise the system.

If it's been sat that long then just leave it to tick over and it should clear in 10-15 min's
