Rocker cover gasket
I will be removing my rocker gasket soon if it is not too difficult and i have a new gasket for it ,do i need gasket sealer on it too or should i get a garage to do it. i have a really bad oil leak from there
smear a bit of blue hyloma on the 1/2 moon seals and @ the bottom where cams are thats it pretty easy really! JUST MAKE SURE you start all the bolts, then tighten them evenly!
piece of piss mate, id do it your self and save money,
personally id put it on dry mate make sure both surfaces are clean
first, fit the gasket in the rocker cover making sure all the lugs on the gasket are lined up with the rocker cover cut outs, put a good nip on the rocker cover bolts but DO NOT over tighten
or you could split the gasket,

had the gasket done today ,which i think went fine but as i have mentioned before my turbo had a small leak so in my wisdom i got the wee sealer washers for the banjo bolts ? and tried to fit them and the damn bolt sheared right off and i dont know how to get it out ,its solid any ideas on this one
Not nice... If a countertap (or whatever they are called) doesn't work, then it needs to be drilled out and hte thread cleaned/retapped. This is quite easy, but IF it goes wrong, the turbo can get fucked up. So I would recommend taking the turbo to a machine shop if one is nearby.
I am having a lot of trouble with them banjo couplings on my 4 x 4 saff, i've tried to seal them by cleaning the faces and buying new washers from fords but it still leaks onto my exhaust manifold.
So if anyone has any other ideas please say. I might try a new bolt next.
Has it snapped off flush with the hole? is it on the air filter side? If it is you might be able to get it out by tapping it round gently with a small screwdriver and a hammer but be careful not to damage the thread. If it isn't on the air box side then you will probably have to take the turbo off
If you dont fancy doing it youself it is possible to just by-pass it and take it to someone to help. It shouldn't do any damage if you take it easy coz the Escort RST don't have a water cooled turbo.
Hope it helps
