Default Having starting issues with my Escort TD run around - UPDATE

Its started having difficulty starting.

Let the glow plugs warm up then go to turn it over and nothing happens, no noise from the starter or any attempt to start the engine at all.

So i bought a new starter and fitted this...waste of time, it still won't start.

Thing is, it'll bump start fine, then run for a couple of days then start misbehaving again.

Basically I don't have a clue where to start LOL.

Any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated

Indicates that it could possibly be a fault with the fuse box if you have no crank via the key.
There is a black with red trace wire that runs thru the secondry bulk head next to the batt with a multiplug in it disconnect that and feed the end that goes to the starter if turns over prob fuse box fault .

Regards Doug .

I Have heard that the contact in the ignition swithes can sometimes burn for the start position, maybe worth a look, I agree with the other response try the wire on the starter solenoid feed as well, then if this is ok just follow backwards to see what does not work.

Right, a bit of an update. I had it to a garage and they checked the wiring etc, and gave it the thumbs up.

They checked the battery out and said the electrolyte was low or something along those lines, so suggested the battery could do with being replaced.

I bought a new battery and waited until the car wouldn't turn over again before fitting it. Once fitted the car started first time on the key.

Its been spot on for about a month now then 2 days ago its started playing up again. Its now stuck outside my girlfriends unable to start.

Brand new battery and starter and all wiring checked...what could it be?

What could be draining the battery so much that it's unable to start?

It has the standard Ford alarm on it, could that be on its way out and drawing to much current?

I'm well and truly pissed off with it now

Might be a silly question but when you had the wiring checked did they check the earths leads from battery to body and to the engine?, that could cause weak power to the starter. They might just want cleaning up.
