Default No Fuel pump or crank after 130PS ECU Swap

I've just bought the ECU off of a 92/93 130PS XR3i (2FBC)
I've just fitted it to my 97/98 115PS Escort Si and when I reconnected battery and tried to fire it up - I heard no fuel pump activity, and the engine didn't crank.

(Was like the battery wasn't connected)

Any ideas? Anything to do with PATS? Haynes manual said it would crank but not fire if PATS was active - but it isn't cranking either

I've checked all fuses are ok, and that the ecu is firmly connected to the harness.

i didnt think it would even crank with the pats active, you need the keys that were with the car/ecu to make it work i think, did it come with these..? and IIRC, the ecu from a 92/93 is a different pin out than a 97/98 model....

pin layout is identical... 92/93 didn't have pats though? only post 94 models did - so surely i wouldn't need the keys?

do I have to rewire the pats sensor or something? I know it's behind the facia - but don't fancy removing it if it aint going to make a difference

ah, right, if the new (OLD) ecu doesnt reauire pats, then it shouldnt do.... could be something else, if you put the old (NEW) one back in, does it start, just to eliminate anythying on the car..?

when I put the original ecu back in, it starts and runs ok

when I attempt to fire it up, the only noise I hear is a very faint tap from around where the injectors are

hope this helps

You need the ecu and key's (red key) from a later 130 model mate ie a 95, 96, escort si 130 most common in a cabriolet i think, hope this helps

Non PATS ecu's and internal PATS ecu's do have different pinouts. Going to a non PATS ecu should mean it's possible to get around this though without needing keys etc.

this is what someone else has said to me, he's going to have a look at it this weekend - said he's done one before and a few cables need removing or swapping around on the multiblock. He's got all the diagrams from when he did it.

Hopefully he'll be able to help me snort it!
