Default Injection

Does any one know if there is a power gain in using standard sierra injection fully mapped on 2.4 pinto engine rather than a set of split 48 carbs. As from 2004 they have chnaged the rules on the championship I am doing we can now run the std. injection.

are you talking about the sohc eeciv module, if so then no, cos you need a restrictive airflow meter, the 'map' can't be changed and the rev limit is set way too low (well under 6000rpm) and can't be raised

the carbs are likely to provide better airflow (and hence power) than the injection system..
However, if it's possible within the regs, it may be beneficial to run the ECU for ignition only, but only if you can get it reprogrammed to suit (talk to Stu @ Motorsport Developments) A lot of gain can be made from getting the right ignition curve, which just isn't possible with a distributor advance mechanism.

It is possible in the regs to use a mappable ecu the only part of the injetion I have to keep is the plenum chamber and throttle body.
