the carbs are likely to provide better airflow (and hence power) than the injection system..
However, if it's possible within the regs, it may be beneficial to run the ECU for ignition only, but only if you can get it reprogrammed to suit (talk to Stu @ Motorsport Developments) A lot of gain can be made from getting the right ignition curve, which just isn't possible with a distributor advance mechanism.
