Default zetec turbo question

could someone please tell me what needs to be modified to fit calibre turbo (c20let) pistons to standard zetec rods????

If the calibre turbo(c20let) pistons would fit EAGLE STEEL RODS????

if i was to get the standard rods SHOTPEENED and fitted arp rod bolts, what sort of power would they handle?????

cheers people

i think you have to bore out the gudgeon pin hole on the con rods, with eagle rods i presume if there custom then you could get anything you wanted, do you use the calibra pistons in the 1.8 or is that for 2.1? im not sure myself?

hi mate yes its for 2.1 zt
it depens on what series of zetec engine that u use
it has to be a silver top to be able to use std rods due to length of rod and yes its just the pin hole that needs modded

hope this helps

i wanted to know the exact same question as im currently building one myself 2.0 calibre turbo(c20let) pistons

surely if you can get the standard zetec rods for silvertop machined to fit wouldent it be the same process on steel eagle rods??

however maybe someone would know.

From the top of my head, the later zetec has a smaller diameter gudgeon pin. As the Eagle rods are for the later one they would also have hte smaller pins. The difference between the later zetec and C20LET pin diameter might be far too big to correct by machining

AND what sze the original rods are as standard??

this way i can find out the spec of the eagle rods and work out if they will fit or not

looks we we both need some answers lol as were building the same engine, and both of us are contemplating steel rods however they wont come cheap
im still looing around, if you find out any more info please update this thread

i have heard people getting 300bhp with standard rods, forged pistons & apr bolts.

not sure what size the rods need to be, but the little end of the rod needs opening out to allow the calibra turbo gudgeon pin to fit, The Goodgeon pins used on LET pistons is slightly larger, so the small ends of the zetec rods need to be enlarged to suit.

think this is correct rod sizes

B/END 49.895mm

S/END 13/16

CENTRES 136.180mm

EAGLE steel rods are very cheap mate!!!!!!!! $318 for a set!!!!!!! thats around Ł180!!!!! after shipping and import tax etc i bet you would have them at your door for under Ł300!!!!!!

I emailed them earlier to see if they would make me a custom set. i asked for them to be the same spec as the standard rods found in the silver top zetecs, but the small end made to fit the 21mm wrist pin for the calibre turbo pistons
Eagle rods have been known to see up to 600bhp without failure!!!!!!!! That sounds good enough for me

i'll let you know how i get on
