I had mondeo wheels in mine xr2i and the only rubing was in wheel arch so I took the grinder and you should know the rest but in the inside toward the suspension had no probs, what size tyres r u gonna use m8?

If where talking Si 16" 5 spokes, I believe there are two sizes of there, 6J and 6.5J, and ideally you want the 6J as its the thinner one.

And running 195/40/16 tyres to keep the rolling circumference roughly the same.

Shouldn't contact the outer arch. If there's slight rubbing on the spring seat you can rotate the shock 180 and gain a few mm clearance.

If we're talking different wheels, I may have wasted your time, soz!

You'll get away with those tyres, I run them on mine - Toyo Proxes TS1's, which have a narrow sidewall giving a tad more space, believe Falken's are good also. But I reckon there's probably not a lot in it, tbh.

I'm on 40mm lowering springs (reckon its nearer 30 thou) and only get some slight rubs on the front arch liners, and a bit at the back when 4 up but rarely when there's two of us.

Got the steering rack centralised then tracked her up, it clears full lock on the 35mm wheel off-set (40mm wheel off-set plus 5mm spacers), so passes the MOT no problem.
