The handling problems were nothing to do with weight distributions, its a near perfect 50/50 anyway, it was purely geometry related.

martin. I've not tried it there before if it prooves a problem we'll just move it. it was spitting lots of flames out the wastegate hole when we ran it without the gate to test it though so it seems like the gasses will go that way

huge charge cooler. 19 litre capacity of water. two cossie intercooler cores inside it. it mounts low down at the back.
garage19 is just finishing it off for me now

martin. will do. I think I may need a second or larger wastegate than the 38mm though

what power are you expecting from the engine chip?

iirc a 38mm w/g is good for 600bhp

much more and you need a 42mm one

bhp and wastegate sizes are unrelated. can run 2million bhp with a stock internal gate if wanted.

basically the bigger the turbo and the lower the boost you wanna run, the bigger the gate needed so less gas goes thru the turbo.

Probably, at bedford I will be running on wastegate pressure only (if its even run in by then to go at all as still got a lot left to do) which is only 0.7 bar

Bit of a rubbish spec really Chip

also don't you mean XER steel crank

Did you run a ecotec crank pulley and the ecotec multi belt bottom pulley to get round the different bolt arrangement ?

Wasnt the ideal weather to showcase it

Shame cause relatively speaking for a light fwd car of that power, that one was actually pretty good as it was on big shafts and a quaiffe diff.

Im not sure myself when surrey meet is, it was meant to be yesterday based on the "first tuesday of the month" principle, but I assume its been moved as that was new years day of course.

Just need to get the engine run in and onto the autronic now

That photo doesn't show a very good picture of the wastegate angle.

As you know, the problem with waste gate exit is to get it to flow well in both directions with out one impeding the other too much.

Toughest test will be when Chip is running 0.7bar to run in.

I have done a quick MS paint drawing to better show the actual angle/take off from above.

As Martin said, with that gate positioning and a 38mm gate i don't think you'l hold 0.7bar, i reckon its going to creap as you get towards top end.

My manifold flows very well towards the gate, and i struggled with a 38mm gate to hold 1.4 bar, it crept to around 1.6 at top rev's. (GT35, Strokered Evo)

Still though, only 1 way to find out, awesome car, what exhaust housing is on the turbo? 0.63?
Is the screamer going into the exhaust?

TBH while im running it in, I can always just adjust the throttle position to limit flow on the way in as well.

Will still be nice to get it out on track for a bit of a "shakedown" even if the wastegate control struggles at the level of boost I want to be running that day.

PS

Yes its a 0.63 housing, and the screamer needs to go back into the exhaust to keep the noise down.

I ran a similar take off with if anything a slightly less waste gate bias angle on a GT30 manifold and managed to hold 1 bar perfectly (as seen in the map sensor data log).

What turbine housing were you running on the GT35? I know some of the GT/HKS hybrid evo turbos seem to run very tight exhaust housings eg Hks GT25/40.

I guess we will just suck it and see.

Just read yours was a stroker (2.3?) so looks like you were running with a bit more ex gas to begin with as well.
