Good Decision Will. You wont regret it mate i assure you.
As i said to you once before, there is a damn good reason that no manufacturer in motoring history has built a successfull FWD 400bhp car. And they have vastly more knowledge and resources than all of us put together. The concept is simply unworkable as an all round good road car.
Sometimes you need to take a step back and look at things like this and ask yourself why your bothering folks.

Ade,
I'm good friends with Simon and we've spent many hours chatting and swapping hints/tips/advice and i know how much time he's spent developing his car so i can fully appreciate that the handling of his car is good!
If i'm totally honest - there are some other reasons apart from the handling that are leading me away from the Mk4 Escort chassis but the good news is that i've had a lot of interest in the bits for sale so hopefully funds will be raised to see a quick Focus RS on the road in the next few months.
New skool - new rules

Personally old skool is where it's at for me as modern cars do nothing for me.
I'd be far happier with a well developed FWD MK4 Escort or even taken further into RWD or 4x4 form

I am in a similar position to you, only difference been my car runs. I am waiting for parts from supplyers, the spec over the years has balooned from been sensible to stupid. Last time i drove it it was shite but i just dont seem to be able to make the break from it.
I admire what your doing though, think if mine misses a few shows this year i will be doing the same thing.

Ah GUTTED
Would of been one incredible Mk4 mate. Not on this scale but when I sold up my project it opened so many other doors, definitely for the best but I really wanted to see what this would do
FRS awesome choice aswell Any RWD options though?

Real shame, loked to be a storming car, but as with any project its really hard to manage to pull through and keep enough enthusiasm for it even through the low times/expensive times.
Just dont hope your regret it, as thats what woudl eat me in about 6 months time

Shame Will, she would have been a mint car. Your skill with a box of spanners is testament to that. But, as people have said 400 front wheel horsees is generally a bit of a handful.
Build yourself a 400bhp Lotus Elise! Thats gotta be fairly adept in the twisties!
But anyways, whats next?

Sounds nice! You should have kept the engine though mate lol If you're keeping a few bits and bobs, you can always sling them on the FRS.

Pleased to see youv'e seen the light, FWD is a waist of time IMHO
Put it in a kit car or a RWD like an Excort Mk1 or 2
I'm now putting my st170 turbo in a Lotus Exige now
ST225 engine is now going in the Westy

Hi Will,
Shame to see that your stopping this but I see the points put across are agreeable! I hope you find a new project to handcraft with all your own skills and I am sure it will be a pleasure to see!
Best of luck mate and keep in touch!

When i did the croft weekend last year in my £350 sierra that didn't miss a beat,i had to wonder why people spend so much on making their cars undrivable!
My current sierra is going v8 chevy power, and with the 909 coilovers and adjustable beam etc. will (no pun intended) owe me less than a grand, and still be fast enough to have fun, which is what owning cars is all about.
Theres a lot to be said for owning a track day shitter, and owning a nice road car as well.
Good luck with the frs.
